Introduction

  • The "Grandiose curriculum" is designed by my teaching institute DaVinci Medical Academy (DMA), Chennai, India (Educational consortium of AGM, New Delhi & KIMS, Chennai) directed by Dr.P.Harinath MD & Dr.Sayed A.C MD since 2005. 
  •  “Grandiose Curriculum” is designed by a team of qualified teachers & specialists to improve the academic & clinical aspects of medical students in all dimensions.

Teaching methodology: 

 

A. Lectures:

· Well organized interactive lectures are provided by teachers in LMU

· We also highly recommend teachers not to provide ppts to students as ppts seriously hamper the reading habit of students

 

B. Reading textbook:

· LMU is providing best textbooks in market: Concise & edited version of Mc Grew Hill textbooks

· Resources provided for studies: E-books are provided by Da vinci medical club + Books are also available @ Da Vinci library

· We provide working plan for each subject called “Smart study aid” to aid in erading

 

C. Video/audio Lectures:

·  Video/audio lectures are projected after each topic is completed

·  Special video lectures are projected for Practical sessions of Histology & Pathology

·  We choose the best video lectures from market (USMLE/Stanford & NEJM)

 

D. Workbook & discussion

·  We provide a work book that is compiled from various standard textbooks

·  Edited by couple of specialists from appropriate fields

·  This highly effective workbooks are designed to enable the students to grasp the concept of subject & apply the knowledge they grabbed in clinical tasks

·  Contents: MCQs+ Check list for spotters + Viva questions + Fill in the blanks + Structured questions + labels + Clinical cases

·  80% of exam questions will be directly given from workbooks thus we can stop the review questions for exams

 

E. OSPE/OSCE

·  Objective structural & clinical examination modules are part of workbook

·  OSCE modules are designed to enable the students to apply their theoretical knowledge practically & clinically

·  30% final exam will be OSCE based

 

 

F. Workshops

·  We organize drawing workshops for drawing structures that will be essential for understanding & recall especially in Neuroanatomy, Histology & Pathology

·  Special workshops are help for Radioanatomy & anatomical basis of clinical skills etc

·  Special tutorial are given for workshops

 

G. Practical classes

·  Viva questions & clinical cases will be asked to each student to provide class performance

·  Discussion of cases with practical application on Cadavers

·  Extra classes on spotters with plastic models

 

H. Chapter wise exams

·  Chapter wise exam will be conducted after completing each chapter

·  Chapter wise exam include MCQs, Cases & OSCE type of questions

·  Chapter wise marks will be counted in class performance/semester

 

I. Interactive online exams

·  Online exam will be conducted after completing the semester

·  Online exam includes simple + clinical bases & picture based MCQs

·  Past paper questions from FMGE is kept as a separate online exam

 

J. Practical exam

·  Conducted in OSCE format

·  8 spotters with appropriate viva questions to be answered

·  1 clinical anatomy case will be asked

·  Applied anatomical skills: radiographs + procedures & et

 

K. Scientific activities:

1-Da  Vinci medical club

·  A club of excellent students groomed by the “Grandiose curriculum” @ JZMU

1.  Organizing the mentor bases learning program ( see in the following slides)

2.  Operating Da Vinci Library

3.  Discussion & presentation of research topics

4.  Organizing special classes at weekends & holidays

5.  Publication of International student medical journal of Liaoning

6.  Online Posts & blogging + etc.

 

2-Mentor based learning Program (MBL)

·  According to the subject time tables mentors will encourage the student in group to read & do the tasks in workbook + discuss between themselves.

·  We also provide special scientific topics to be discusses.

·  The doubts & questions of the students from the group will be directed to the appropriate mentors, thus mentors refer the literature & discuss between other mentors to clear doubts of students.

·  The doubts & questions of mentors will be directed to Da Vinci board of elite mentors to be discussed & to teacher.

·  Board of mentors also organizes special classes at weekends & holidays

   

3-Medical Journal project

·  We are publishing the first registered student medical journal for the first time in China

·  Research topics are given to interested students & discussed under Mentor based learning Program (MBL)

·  Students are trained by scientific supervisor & editors to write the article to fit for the International Medical Journal Format.

·  8-10 best articles are chosen / issue

·  Best articles will be awarded by the university with special certificate & prizes

 

 

4-Publication Project

·  We train students to work on publications & teaching

·  Best work of the students will be awarded with prize of 100$ to encourage them to study more

·  Best works of the students will be included in the publication with their names in the list of contributing authors

·  Publications is a value added point in CV to apply for USMEL/PLAB & other exams
